“ These paintings are a record of places but also of time. ”

Painting Woodlands, Water and Sky

Landscapes here are in no particular order but all are original paintings I’ve created over several years. You will notice changes in location, technique and in media.

Moving to the Salisbury area of Wiltshire, England made some exciting changes to my art work. Here I am in the midst of irresistible landscape views. Reflections everywhere and light through trees to provide dramatic contrasts.

  • Acrylic

Acrylic paints allow quick and continuous gestures and marks. With only short gaps for drying, there is lots of opportunity for revision. These paints team up with collage and drawing tools to allow almost infinite layering.

  • Watercolour

Watercolour is probably the most challenging of paints. One stroke can mean commitment but what possibilities!. In the right hands it produces paintings of great fluidity. Irresistible.

  • Oil

Oil paints produce wonderful blends and have an unrivalled richness of texture. They retain both texture and colour, though drying may take a while.

  • Drawing Materials

Almost all of my paintings include lines in pencil, pastel or charcoal., I use line to add texture and detail and to tie areas together.. A pencil or pen, a pastel or piece of charcoal. All possibilities.

“This piece I painted in 2019 was the start of a transition from realism to a more feelings based approach…”
