Her studio in Hampshire was a hub for aspiring local artists. Linda taught life drawing and painting, exhibiting and selling her work through exhibitions and galleries including the Mall Gallery in London.

Project Workshops, a much admired arts centre in Hampshire, was her studio’s home for the next 3 years while her own was built in Wiltshire.

Along with the move to a wet and wooded neighbourhood came a radical redirection. The paintings, now abstract and explore both the landscape surrounding the studio and our rapidly altering world.

An Introduction

Linda’s work has transformed over a lifetime of study and experience.

She was born in Canada settling in the UK in the early 70s. She worked as a teacher, music specialist and then an art tutor, studied life drawing and sculpture, made ceramic sculpture and a bronze or two before focussing on painting.

At Work In The Studio

“ My work is about now, this place, the season, and me. They are direct and intuitive.”

Tools of the Trade

“In the past brushes and palette knives suited the subjects - now, the process relies on expressive marks and textures made with whatever works.”

The scraper was made from the remains of a chicken shed.

My studio space is lined with shelves of paintings, past and present.

Marking with a handle works in fresh paint.

Abstract Freedom

“This way of working allows for infinite possibilities.”
